Description

500px provided description: Opened in 1919 after falling twice during construction, it is still the longest cantilever bridge in the world. This picture was taken during the 100th anniversary commemoration of the main collapse, which cost the lives of 75 workers.

These two accidents led Canadian engineers to create official licensing bodies for their profession, such as those for doctors and lawyers. Rumors say that the recovered scrap metal was used to create iron rings that engineers would wear in the little finger of the working hand as remembrance of the importance of safety in the engineer's work.

I myself have been wearing my ring every day since I finished my engineering exams in 2007.
