Title
Late Medieval copper alloy merchants finger ring
Description
English: Copper alloy seal finger ring with widened shoulders and an octofoil bezel. The internal diameter of the hoop is 20mm. The face of the bezel is decorated with an incised motif, presumably relating to a merchants seal mark. The motif comprises a central line with a collared terminal and a splayed terminal. There is a circle behind the splayed end. From the centre of the line there is a 'tick-shaped' incised line that reaches the perimeter of the bezel. To the left is a small short incised line, and to the right are three more, the outer one having an extended acute angle to to, reminiscant of an italic 16th century letter 'd'.
