Title
English: Last King County grand jury in Washington Territory, 1889
Description
English: Shortly before Washington Territory became a state in 1889, members of the King County Grand Jury gathered for a formal portrait. Like other grand juries, past and present, they were appointed to examine accusations against anyone charged with a crime. If the grand jury decided that there was just cause for the accusation, it indicted the person, who then had to stand trial for the crime.
