Summary[edit]

Description A convincing Bumble-bee mimic with a fierce buzz, photographed in my garden (Ipswich, VC25 East Suffolk, TM166450) on 29 May 2015. This species comes in various colour variations to mimic different types of bee. This is the red-tailed version. The larvae burrow into daffodil and other bulbs where they live for about 300 days.
