English: The composition is built from the geometric shapes that form the lines of the woman's veil, neckline, face and arms, and by the fall of the light that illuminates her face and headdress. The vivid contrasts of darkness and light enhance the almost unnatural beauty and Gothic elegance of the model.
Español: La composición está formada por formas geométricas que modelan las líneas del velo, el cuello, el rostro y los brazos y por la caída de la luz que ilumina su faz y su peinado.Es el único retrato de una mujer firmado por el propio van der Weyden, si bien se conocen más retratos atribuidos a él o a su taller, aunque no se conoce ni el nombre de la dama ni el título original de la obra.
