tennero chegià dal lago di Albano e Nemi, come si vede (fig. 27) nellasezione geologica dai colli laziali al Teverone, avvenga unacontinua filtrazione di acqua verso la valle. E certo invece chetutto il bacino assorbente dei monti laziali, colle loro grandivalli chiuse, depressioni crateriformi dei vulcani spenti, serveda vastissimo serbatoio assorbente in alto e filtrante in basso,ove le acque incontrano lo strato delle pozzolane che le con-centra e le conduce a fluire nella valle del Teverone. Ad esempio le sorgenti dellacqua Vergine sono appunto inuna valle detta di Salone (v. fig. 27 (r), dove, per mezzo dipozzi e gallerie, si raccoglie quella massa dacqua che giornal-mente viene a Eoma. Cosi pure anche lacqua Felice è una mani-festazione locale dellacqua che filtra dai monti vulcanici laziali,e viene portata allaperto lungo una corrente di lava sotterranea. Similmente lacqua del sottosuolo dellAgro romano è abbon-dante e piuttosto superficiale nelle parti più depresse. Qui in
