Description

Fresques du plafond de la cathédrale : La persécution et le martyre des chrétiens dans Myre (1705-1706) par Giulio Quaglio Nicolas, a été évêque de Myre, en Lycie, (Anatolie du sud-ouest)

La cathédrale Saint-Nicolas (1701-1706) est dans le style baroque, elle a été conçue par l’architecte jésuite Andrea Pozzo (1642-1709).

Les fresques du plafond sont consacrées à la vie de Saint-Nicolas, patron des pêcheurs et des marins mais aussi d'autres corporations, elles ont été peintes par Giulio Quaglio.

Plusieurs sculpteurs dont Francesco Robba ont contribué aux décors intérieurs et extérieurs.
