Description
Español: La Procesión de Santa María de la Almudena en 1638 es una obra anónima de la Escuela Madrileña de pintura, realizada hacia 1640 y que se conserva en la Catedral de la Almudena de Madrid (España), si bien su primera ubicación fue la desaparecida Iglesia de Santa María de la Almudena (situada en la actual Calle Mayor). La pintura muestra la procesión que tuvo lugar el 6 de julio de 1638, con motivo de la fuerte tormenta acaecida sobre la ciudad de Madrid el 26 de junio de ese mismo y que ocasionó graves daños en la desaparecida Iglesia de Santa María de la Almudena. Este templo aparece representado en el cuadro, detrás de la comitiva que porta la talla de la Virgen de la Almudena, que aparece vestida con ropajes de tela, tal y como se la veneraba entonces.
