Description
English: Portrait of a man, Lucas Schorer (born Middelburg 1657- died after 1705), commander (1687-1689) and vice-commander (1690-1696) of Sint Eustatius and Saba, Dutch Caribbean. His right hand is pointing to a ship at sea in the background. To the left of him is a boy of African descent with a turban, a servant, who holds up a tray with a cup and saucer and a bowl of sugar on it. His name is unknown. Black, hollow, stepped, flat-bottomed frame with gilded inner trim.
Nederlands: Portret van een man, Lucas Schorer (geboren 1657-overleden na 1705), commandeur (1687-1689) en vice-commandeur (1690-1696) van Sint Eustatius en Saba. Zijn rechterhand wijzend naar een schip op zee op de achtergrond. Links naast zich een jongen van Afrikaanse afkomst met tulband, een bediende, die een dienblad ophoudt met daarop een kop en schotel en een schaaltje met suiker. Zijn naam is niet bekend. Zwarte, holle getrapte platbodemlijst met vergulde binnen- bies.
