The fact is that, whenthe membranes are twisted, if the internal os should close downa portion of the membranes are inevitably torn off. Adherentplacenta and retention of the membranes become very rare asthe physician familiarizes himself with the proper conduct ofthe third stage of labor. Such occurrences are clue either topathological changes
