Summary[edit]
| Description |
English: Knockrome. Ruin amongst a small village on the east coast of Jura. Geology has been unkind to Jura, the island being 99% quartzite with acid soils unsuited to cultivation, it's a big deer forest, a fact reflected in the name dyrøy (Animal island). Along the eastern coast however there is a strip of schists, these release calcium and other minerals into the soil, and fertility is reasonable. Almost all settlement is along this strip, the rest of Jura is deserted. |
