English: Side view of a kitchen knife edge after sharpening and stropping; each division on the scale is 0.5 mm. The knife still has detectable irregularities in the edge, but is sharp enough for household kitchen use. Stopping polishes the very edge of the blade; machining marks from manufacturing are still visible. |
