| Description |
English: Keyingham village cross, Keyingham, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The stump of the old stone cross was moved into a small garden between the war memorial and the Methodist Chapel on the corner of Ings Lane and Main Street in 1968, when the roads were widened and Keyingham village finally got some pavements. The stump previously stood across the road close to where the red telephone box is in the picture. The war memorial with a figure of a WWI soldier was unveiled and dedicated in October 1921 but the original figure was replaced by a cross after suffering damage. This cross was later replaced by the figure of a WW2 soldier, commissioned by the Keyingham branch of the British Legion to mark the Queen's silver jubilee in June 1977. |
