Description
Two sided copper painting, with The Continence of Scipio on one side and an Allegory of Nature (see File:Mander, Carel van (Elder) - Allegory of Nature - 1600.jpg) on the other side. Because the Allegory of Nature shows traces of wear and tear it is thought that the copper plate originally served as a cabinet door, with the Allegory of Nature on the outside and The Continence of Scipio on the inside of the cabinet.
