Description Remains of the Eastern Gate of Kapilavastu (also: Kapilavatthu) in Nepal (close to Lumbini). Gautama Buddha grew up in this city. The Eastern Gate was the gate through which he is supposed to have left the city on his quest to attain the end of suffering.
