Summary[edit]
DescriptionKansa (Kaw) cessions and reservations, 1825-1873.png |
English: The map shows the land cessions and reservations of the Kansa (Kaw) tribe in Kansas and Oklahoma from 1825 to 1873. Light red area 124 was ceeded in 1825, leaving blue area 264 as a reservation for the tribe. After a cession i 1846 the people moved down to a reservation at Neosho River in 1848. It included both the green area 420 and the blue as well as the light red areas 421. (Due to a mistake the light red part of the 421 area overlapped a part of the Shawnee reservation established in 1825.) In 1859 the Kansa reservation was reduced to only the green area 420. The Kansas were forced to leave the Neosho River reservation i 1873 and settle on a reservation in Oklahoma in 1873 – the green area 535.
