Summary[edit]

Description
English: Entrance to the Cantonal School of Business Basel-Stadt with the Sgraffito / Wall Painting The sea of Max Kämpf from the year 1950. The wall painting originally represented three basic human activities: agriculture, trade and handicraft. The empty bottom field briefly showed a blacksmith with a distinctive mustache. Under the influence of the Cold War, the cantonal government had the bottom image removed, as it reminded some viewers of Josef Stalin and was understood as a pro-Communist statement. The process was known as Schnauzaffäre.
