But as a larger quantity wastaken the picture began to take on the definite form thatyou see in the illustration, which is a very fine illustrationof this type of the greatly dilated esophagus. The patient refused operation and returned to her firstadviser who put her upon medical treatment. After some-thing like two months she came back to me for anotherexamination to see if she was improving. With the Roentgenoscope it was very easy to see whatkind of treatment she had been taking, for the esophaguswas full of bismuth so that it could be seen just as in thispicture without the use of further opaque material. I ad-vised her that the medical treatment was doing her no good. In conclusion I would say, that anything that I have saidhere about the Roentgenologist, the internist, or the sur-geon, has been said only in order to emphasize the fact thatwe need closer team work all along the line.
