Roentgenographic examination shows the cupping of theepiphyses, characteristic of rickets, and the ulna shows anoutward bend, which produces radial adduction of the hand.Several of the carpal hones show distinct bony shadows.The metacarpals seem to be normal except for a very shortfirst metacarpal. (Figure 6.) I am mentioning the last case merely to complete thissmall series of club hand deformities, showing under simi-lar clinical pictures such widely divergent etiological con-ditions. While there are four cases of congenital bilateral clubhand deformities, only case 1 is undoubtedly one of primaryvariation in the embryonal development. The three others,I believe, to be due to external condition in utero, chordconstriction, postural anomalies, etc. Of the three acquiredcases two are of osteomylitic origin, resulting in partialdefect of the radius, and in one case of the thumb.
