Transcribed from photograph: "Prof. J.B. Johnsen and his wife [Mary] at their home on Seneca St. and south of the old University. Taken in early '80's." The 1885 City Directory lists an O.B. Johnson working as a professor at the Territorial University and residing at the SE corner of 5th Ave. and Seneca St. Orson B. Johnson first started teaching science at the University in 1882. Johnson Hall on the present University of Washington campus bears his name. |
