Description
English: John Parkinson residence, St. Paul Street & 6th Street, ca.1910
  • Photograph of the residence of the regionally renowned architect John Parkinson, at St. Paul Street & 6th Street, north of Wilshire Boulevard in the Downtown—Westlake neighborhood of central Los Angeles, California, ca.1910.
  • The rectangular Mission Revival, and Prairie style, and Mediterranean Revival style house, with a flat roof and extended eaves, sits atop a landscaped rise. A long set of stairs leads from the sidewalk up through the garden to the entry terrace and house. A garage or carriage house sits to the left.
  • Trees run across the the top of the rise adjacent to the 2-story house. A gated drive curves up the rise between the garage and the stairs. Streetscape. Horizontal photography.


  • Designed by the architect John B. Parkinson, where he lived with his family from 1901 to 1915.
  • It was moved in 1925 west several miles to 268 Lake Street at Miramar, where it served as an apartment building until its 1952, when it was demolished for a St. Vincent Hospital expansion project.
