This image is a photographic copy of a double profile watercolor sketch of John and Catherine Holman; the original watercolor sketch is part of the Collection of the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts, Old Salem Museums and Gardens. John was the son of Jacob and Lydia Holman who lived at the headwaters of Bear Creek. John married Catherine Crenshaw and these portraits may have been done soon after their marriage.
