Deutsch: Vom Gefängnis zum Senatspräsidium. Johann Jakob Bodmer (1737–1806), Seckelmeister von Stäfa, gehörte zu den Anführern des Stäfner Aufstands, war aber an der Ausarbeitung der Bittschrift von 1794 nicht beteiligt. Dennoch wurde er zu lebenslanger Haft verurteilt, wie Gitter, Ketten, Wasser und Brot andeuten. 1798 rehabilitiert, eröffnete er als Alterspräsident den helvetischen Senat.
