Deutsch: Schematischer Aufbau eines Strahltriebwerkes. Einströmende Luft wird durch die Rotorblätter komprimiert, gelangt in die Brennkammer, wo sie zusammen mit einem Treibstoffgemisch verbrannt wird. Die ausströmenden Abgase sorgen für den Schub und treiben zugleich die Turbine an, die die Rotorblätter in Bewegung hält.

English: Diagram of a typical gas turbine jet engine (in German). Air is compressed by the fan blades as it enters the engine, and it is mixed and burned with fuel in the combustion section. The hot exhaust gases provide forward thrust and turn the turbines which drive the compressor fan blades.
