English: Jeannette Senior High School’s Demetrious Cox, one of Pennsylvania’s top high school football stars, will be taking his talents to Phoenix after being invited to play in the inaugural Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl, scheduled for January 3, 2012.
The Semper Fidelis Bowl, scheduled to be played at Chase Field as part of Fiesta Bowl Week in Phoenix, is part of a partnership between Marine Corps Recruiting Command and Junior Rank. The bowl game, which will be nationally televised by CBS, will be an East-West format game featuring the top 100 high school football players in the country. Cox, 17, a top rated safety, has played the game he loves since he was six. The Jeannette Jayhawk has yet to decide where he will play in college but has scholarship offers from Pittsburgh, Penn State, Wisconsin, Michigan State and Notre Dame to name a few. Wherever he goes, Cox plans on studying business marketing in addition to shutting down opposing offenses. “It’s an honor to participate in the Semper Fidelis Bowl,” said Cox. “It makes me feel like we are a part of something big, especially since it is the first to be played. Hopefully we do the Marines justice.” |
