Description
Nederlands: De koopman en reder Jan Corneliszn Geelvinck (1579-1651) was in 1646 voor de elfde keer tot burgemeester gekozen, toen hij zich liet portretteren. Zijn tweede huwelijk, met Agatha de Vlaming van Oudtshoorn, verschafte Geelvinck toegang tot het stedelijk patriciaat. In totaal bekleedde Geelvinck het burgemeesters ambt twaalfmaal. Ook was hij vertegenwoordiger van Holland in de Staten Generaal.
