[Original caption] Jaipur - The Holy Shrine of Singhji. Jaipur is one of the wealthiest and best administered states under native rule. Its capital, the 'rose-red city' of that name is picturesque, clean, prosperous and progressive. Amber is the ancient capital 5 miles distant. Jaipur has a ground-plan like an American city;: wide and straight main avenues with lesser streets crossing at right angles. Muslins, cloths, metals and jewellery are the chief manufactures. [end]
