McCain (DDG-56) wave goodbye to Japan Maritime Self-Defense Forces sailors from the destroyer JS Chōkai (DDG-176) as the ship departs Kagoshima. John S. McCain visited Kagoshima with JMSDF ships as part of the joint U.S. and Japan port visits being conducted this year to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the alliance between the two nations. John S. McCain is one of seven Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers assigned to Destroyer Squadron 15 and is forward deployed to Yokosuka, Japan.
