Español: Retrato de María Sandalia de Acebal y Arratia. Firmado "J. de Madrazo 1820" en el centro izquierda, en la cornisa. Es el único retrato femenino de cuerpo entero conocido hasta hoy de mano de su autor. La protagonista aparenta 25 años de edad, setándose en un sillón imperio con brazos de esfinges, y vistiendo un sencillo traje madreperla de talle alto y mangas abullonadas. Se peina a la moda de aquellos años, con rizos enmarcándole el rostro y moño trenzado, luciendo un collar de cuentas en su generoso escote, bordeado de encaje, y apoya su pie derecho en un escabel, también estilo Imperio. Doña María debió nacer en Menagray (Álava) hacia 1798-1800. Hija de Francisco del Acebal Aguirre, procurador general del Valle y Tierra de Ayala, y de María Ramona de Arraria Villachica, su hermano, Francisco Félix del Acebal, fue Senador del Reino, caballero de la Orden de Alcántara y del Cuerpo Colegiado de la Nobleza de Madrid. Este es un retrato atractivo, con una preocupación prerromántica por la sugestión ambiental del escenario, con gran habilidad en el manejo de su iluminación, que gradúa desde la penumbra del margen izquierdo hacia la suave claridad del derecho, resaltando con especial énfasis el volumen de la modelo, cuyos bien descritos pliegues del vestido dejan adivinar su anatomía, de un brazo izquierdo resuelto con una exquisita matización de claroscuro. |
