English: Portrait of Isabella II of Spain (1830-1904).
English: "Representada de medio cuerpo, mirando hacia la izquierda, sobre fondo arquitectónico. Viste traje azul.
Isabel II sentía cierta predilección por el retrato pintado en esmalte y sobre porcelana, técnicas que no eran dominadas por los artistas españoles, razón que la llevó a encargarlos a París, concretamente al taller Rihouet. Para esta obra el autor tuvo como modelo una litografía que copia la pintura de Federico de Madrazo de 1850 que preside el salón principal de la Embajada de España ante la Santa Sede, del que se hicieron numerosas copias para el ornato de diversas instituciones. En esta miniatura la imagen de la reina aparece invertida respecto al cuadro de Madrazo y el fondo se ha simplificado, apareciendo un celaje en lugar del rico interior arquitectónico." [1]
