Summary[edit]

Description
English: Melancolie de toamnă. — Căderea frunzelor ("Autumn melancholy. — Leaf-fall"), cartoon published in Furnica, the Romanian satirical magazine. The Conservative Party leaders as street-sweepers, an allegory of their steady preparation for a return in government. Front to bottom rows: Take Ionescu, Alexandru A. Badărău, Nicolae Fleva, Petre P. Carp. The orange leaves on the ground carry various names, reflecting aspects of Romania's administrative, judicial and economic policies: "Judges", "Trusts", "Inspectors", "Ambulance [Service]", "Gendarmes", "Counties" etc. The original caption reads: "Măturătorii de reforme" făcând exerciţiu în aşteptarea căderei liberalilor de la putere (" 'Reform sweepers' keeping fit in preparation for the Liberals' fall from power"). In the background, hanging from a tree, is a skeletal figure, wearing Romanian folk dress, and marked "The Budget".
Note: Theodorescu-Sion's T-and-ring monogram is visible on the far left. In this issue of Furnica, he is introduced with the pseudonym Teodosion.

Licensing[edit]

This is a faithful photographic reproduction of a two-dimensional, public domain work of art. The work of art itself is in the public domain for the following reason:
Public domain

The author died in 1939, so this work is in the public domain in its country of origin and other countries and areas where the copyright term is the author's life plus 80 years or fewer.

You must also include a United States public domain tag to indicate why this work is in the public domain in the United States. Note that a few countries have copyright terms longer than 80 years: Mexico has 100 years and Jamaica has 95 years. This image may not be in the public domain in these countries, which moreover do not implement the rule of the shorter term.
The official position taken by the Wikimedia Foundation is that "faithful reproductions of two-dimensional public domain works of art are public domain".
This photographic reproduction is therefore also considered to be in the public domain in the United States. In other jurisdictions, re-use of this content may be restricted; see Reuse of PD-Art photographs for details.
