| Description |
1,000 views on 30th September 2013 Helmet plate (believed to have been issued only to the four Sergeant ranks in the Force) worn up until 1901. The badge is bi-metal, the backplate comprising the Victorian cross and Queen Victoria's style of crown is a standard design in brass. The circular centre-piece is made of silver and comprises a version of the Burgh's coat of arms which includes a dromedary and an elephant (neither of which are indigenous animals!!) as supporters, with the motto "Concordia et Fidelitas". I haver another example of this plate, but with small lions in the gaps between the 'arms' of the cross, such plate mounted on a ball-top cork helmet. |
