« À l'avant-plan de ce groupe d'ouvriers, le garçon affecté au pressage des disques de gramophone semble être un adolescent. Le travail des enfants n'était pas un phénomène nouveau, car de tout temps et dans tous les systèmes économiques les enfants ont collaboré à l'économie familiale. Toutefois, les conditions de travail dans l'industrie - horaire, tâches répétitives, milieu malsain - sont beaucoup plus dures qu'avant.
