| Description |
English: A fire in Angers castle's "logis royal" occurred in January 10, 2009. The fire started during the afternoon and was extinguished during the night. No victims were deplored. Repair costs amounted to 2 million euros, although no art piece were destroyed. The fire was caused by a malfunctioning electric heater system that was put into use due to the unusually cold winter. On the picture, one can see the roof of the "logis royal" partly destroyed and showing the burning frame. The firemen did not use a big firetruck, because it could not enter inside the castle gardens. Hight portable ladders and hundreds of meters of hose were used instead. The higher building behind the burning roof correspond to the castle's chapel. It was feared to take fire too, but it was saved by the firemen.
Français : Incendie du logis royal du château d'Angers le 10 janvier 2009. L'incendie s'est déclaré dans l'après midi et a été éteint dans la nuit sans faire de victimes. Les dégâts sont chiffrés à 2 millions d'euros, mais aucune œuvre d'art n'a été détruite. Ont été détruits le plancher de second étage et la toiture (charpente comprise) du logis royal. L'intérieur du bâtiment a aussi été abimé par l'eau utilisée pour lutter contre les flammes. L'incendie a été causé par le dysfonctionnement d'un système de chauffage électrique mis en œuvre à cause d'un hiver particulièrement froid. On peut voir sur l'image le toit du logis en feu et deux pompiers tentant de lutter contre l'incendie. Les pompiers n'ont pas pu faire entrer leur camion dans la cour, et ont dû utiliser des échelles mobiles et des centaines de mètres de tuyaux. En arrière plan, on peut voir le toit de la chapelle, qui a lui aussi menacé de prendre feu, mais a été finalement sauvé par les pompiers.
