Summary[edit]

Description
English: An installation of a TN-C network (Schuko socket) that is no longer permitted for the following reasons:
  • The neutral and protective earth wires should be separated from each other till their join point at distribution substation.
  • As old distribution boards and old fuse boxes have single-colored wires for all poles (for example, in apartment buildings in the USSR all wires were white), the phase and zero wires could easily be switched by accident. If this happened, all devices connected to such PE-pole metal cases would have a phase pole on them. People touching metal cases would get an electrical shock.
Such methods of wiring were very popular after the fall of the USSR fall in ex-USSR countries, when the first devices with Schuko sockets appeared in those countries. However, existing installations are not required to be changed.
Hrvatski: Monofazna Šuko utičbica - prikaz zaštitnih kontakat.

Other versions
Broken neutral wire, same-colored hot and neutral wires, missing RCD in old fuse box - enough reasons to pass a lethal voltage into metal covers through a bridge between the neutral and ground. Even an RCD is useless with this way of wiring.
