Português: O pavão albino é um animal fascinante e raro. Ele não é uma espécie diferente de pavão, mas sim uma variação genética que se manteve ao longo do tempo. Todas as 3 espécies de pavão podem dar origem a espécimes de pavão albino.
O albinismo é uma característica muito rara em populações animais, pois os espécimes que carregam os genes albinos geralmente são vulneráveis. O pavão-branco é parcialmente albino e pertence à espécie Povo cristatus, conhecida como pavão-azul. Ele se diferencia das outras variedades pela ausência quase total de melanina na sua pele e nas penas . O pavão albino é um símbolo de imortalidade na cultura hindu e cristã. É importante notar que o albinismo não atinge apenas o homem, mas também animais como aves, coelhos e ratos. Contudo, eles não conseguem sobreviver na natureza por muito tempo porque são muito mais sensíveis aos males causados pela luz do sol e têm grande dificuldade em se esconder dos predadores naturais devido a sua cor. |
