Text Appearing Before Image: May 2, 1886, and emigrated to Utahthe same year with his paients, Jo-han Frederik Thunell and Erika Chris-tina Forsberg. He was baptized June4, 1895, filled a mission to Sweden in1900-1909, and held positions in Sun-day school and Mutual Improvementassociation in the ward in which heresided in Salt Lake City. In 1921-1922, Elder Thunell filled another mis-sion to Sweden, part of the time act-ing as secretary of the mission, andlater succeeding Theodore Tobiasonas mission president. This position he held about sixteen months beforereturning home. He served as Bishopof the Wasatch Ward, Salt Lake City,in 1924-1927, and later acted as presi-dent of the Scandinavian organiza-tion in Salt Lake City. Swiss Mission The Swiss Mission, founded in1850, existed as a distinct mission(comprising Switzerland) until 1854,when it became the principal part ofthe Swiss and Italian Mission. In1861 the Swiss Mission, the ItalianMission and the German Mission wereamalgamated to make the Swiss andGerman Mission. Another separationtook place in 1898, when Switzerlandagain became a distinct mission, andGermany another, and thus continueduntil 1904, when the Swiss Missionand German Mission were once moreamalgamated and were continued un-der the title of the Swiss and German BIOGRAPHICAL ENCYCLOPEDIA 386 Mission (sometimes written Swiss-German Mission).
