Text Appearing After Image: A PAIR OF CHEETAHS. The Cheetah or hunting leopard is a magnificent-looking creature, stand-ing higher than a leopard, but without the latters enormous strength. Thehead is small for the body, and the limbs are long and slender. The cheetahis found in Asia and Africa, and in the former is regarded with favor. It wasnoticed in India that whenever the creature caught a deer, it commenced atonce to suck its blood. Hence the idea to use them in hunting. The cheetah is blindfolded and carried in a native cart until some game issighted. Then the bandages are removed, and the animal usually spies thegame at once. The cheetah moves forth with a swift, stealthy motion, neverrisking showing itself until it is quite close. Then it gives one powerfulspring, and seldom misses. The keepers hurry up and entice it away withsome favorite food, or the blood of the deer. The cheetah is then rehoodedand taken back to the cart until more game is found. THE HYENA.
