Description

Illustration that appears on folio b1 recto in Apologetica disceptatio, qua docetur per quae loca sanguis mitti debeat in visceru[m] inflammationibus, pr[ae]sertim in pleuritide. Edited by Antonius Luceus. Brissot is credited with having precipitated the wellknown bloodletting controversy into which Vesalius was later reluctantly drawn, and out of which came his Venesection epistle of 1539 (ref. WorldCat).
