Description
Español: Como no podían rendir a los franceses, se dio orden de quemar las casas de la plaza y de los alrededores de la iglesia, para que sirviera de escarmiento a la población que tachan de “afrancesada” y a los pueblos vecinos: “por este medio creo que abandonarán su fuerte y al mismo tiempo tendrán los pueblos a la vista un ejemplo terrible, pero necesario, contra los que, como Sasamón, defienden al partido de los franceses”. El resultado fue desastroso para el pueblo como para su edificio más emblemático.
