Description

Ponferrada.- Su historia empieza antes de la época romana, pero cuando realmente la ciudad alcanza importancia es a partir del siglo XI con el aumento de las peregrinaciones hacia Santiago. En el año 1082 el Obispo Osmundo ordena construir un puente sobre el Sil para facilitar su paso a los peregrinos. Este puente fue construido con barandillas de hierro por lo que se le llamó Pons Ferrata (puente de hierro) que con el tiempo se convertiría en el nombre de la futura ciudad: Ponferrada. www.minube.com/rincon/iglesia-de-san-andres-a52337
