Plipto Wui, L, Koehne MRS. IDA HIPPACH AND DAUGHTER JEANPoth of whom were rescued from the Titanic WRECK OF THE TITANIC 81 man at the tiller. They could have taken fifteen morepeople in our boat. There was no commotion in thefirst cabin. I heard that a man was shot in a panic inthe steerage. When our boat got into the water itdrifted under the exhaust of the Titanic and we werenearly swamped. We rowed off for about half a mileand then saw the lights on the Titanic sink graduallyout of sight. As the Titanic sank the lights went down,one after another. Hyman said he heard of one man who had been sit-ting on a pile of deck chairs when the last explosioncame who was blown off with the deck chairs. The manwas found in the ocean on the deck chairs. BOILERS KEND GREAT SHIP John Snyder and his wife of Indianapolis told howthe boilers of the Titanic exploded and literally tore theship to pieces. We were in our stateroom and I was asleep, Mr.Snyder said. The jar that came v/hen the ship struckt
