Summary[edit]

Description
English: INS Tarangini, the first Sail Training Ship of Indian Navy, has been deployed from Kochi to participate in Tall Ship Races as part of Lokayan 22. The ship would also be celebrating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at various ports during the passage. Accordingly, the ship made port call to Algiers, Algeria on 07 June 2022 and was escorted by Algerian Coast Guard ship into the harbour. The ship will be departing on 09 June 2022 on completion of activities. The ship was accorded a warm welcome by the officers of Algeria on being secured alongside. Mr Gaurav Ahluwalia, Ambassador of India to Algeria visited the ship and interacted with officers and crew. The Commanding officer called on General Kaid Noureddine, Commander of Central Maritime Facade along with two officers of the ship and First Secretary of the embassy of India. Around 30 visitors of Indian community visited the ship. A deck reception was hosted onboard wherein ambassadors from Russia, Japan, Brazil, UK, Italy and France and General Kaid Noureddine along with dignitaries from the Defense forces of Algeria visited the ship.
