Description
English: The IBM 5231 Controller is a standalone unit that collects data from as many as 15 time-entry and data-entry stations. The 5231 has an operator console for user response-to-status messages, a clock for continental time-of-day display, an audible alarm for alerting the operator, and a function for 5230 system diagnosis. System diagnosis is performed continuously whenever the 5231 is on but is not processing data. If a problem is detected, the 5231 displays a status message and sounds an alarm. From data entered, Model 1 interprets and punches 96-column output card records
