Here is a picture of Hurricanes Madeline (left) and Lester (right) approaching Hawaii. I've seen many clouds, both from the ground and from satellite, that appear to be some sort of facial expression, but this one is one of the best. Personally, I see a "disgruntled train conductor." What do you see? Comment below! This image was taken yesterday afternoon by the SUOMI NPP Satellite. Madeline has since been downgraded to a tropical storm and is approaching the Big Island right now. Lester is still going strong. With these and newly-formed Tropical Storm Hermine in the Gulf of Mexico, there is a lot of action in the tropics right now! The Big Island, Maui, Lanai, Molokai, and Kahoolawe are all under tropical storm warnings as Madeline passes just to the south. Lester is forecast to go just north of these islands this weekend and may be at hurricane strength for the Big Island before weakening to tropical storm strength as it continues its path westward. |
