Hurricane Rita evacuation effects in Magnolia, Texas, 2005

No, these are not cars just parked on the side of the street, they are waiting in a line for gas at a station 1/4 mile away. This was the only gas station for miles that had gas.

Small towns like Magnolia we're overwhelmed by the evacuees passing through and saw large crowds of motorists. The majority of gas stations were closed and out of gas, only a few restaurants were open, and the facilities that were open posted "Out of service" signs on the door to avoid heavy traffic, leaving many to take care of business on the side of the road.
