Due to the scarcity of gasoline, small, side-of-the road stations became popular hang-outs to refill as well as grab a snack to munch on and just take a break. The gas price ranged between US$2.67 to $3 for regular unleaded. It was also not uncommon for gas stations to only be stocked with premium, meaning much higher prices.
