Summary[edit]

Description The year’s first Northeast Pacific hurricane, Aletta, appears in this image from the Sea-viewing Wide Field-of-view Sensor (SeaWiFS). On May 24, 2000 the hurricane was spinning 300 miles off the coast of Mexico with sustained winds of 80 miles per hour and gusts up to 100 miles per hour.
