The fire stations and the firefighting equipment in Plaquemines Parish, was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. FEMA grants provided Plaquemines Parish with the needed funding that made it possible to rebuild these fires stations and purchase nine new fire trucks to replace those destroyed.
