DescriptionHuman-leech-nervous-system-comparison.png |
English: This image shows the nervous systems of a medical leech and a human, side by side, illustrating that the basic segmental structure of the bilaterian nervous system is apparent in both. |
Date | |
Source | This image was made using GIMP, by combining scanned figures from two books that are in the public domain because their copyrights have expired. The leech drawing on the left is taken from page 90 of "The Soul of Man: An Investigation of the Facts of Physiological and Experimental Psychology", by Paul Carus, Open Court Pub. Co., 1905. The human CNS drawing on the right is taken from Figure 26, page 82, of "The Fundamental Laws of Human Behavior", by Max Friedrich Meyer, published by R. G. Badger, 1911. |
